NEWS ROUNDUP: Door-to-door testing finishes in WS2 area and health worker is dragged from car and robbed in West Bromwich
Mass testing in the WS2 postcode has now finished with no further cases of the South African variants of coronavirus detected. They will now begin door-to-door testing in Pleck where a case was discovered last week.
A health worker has been dragged from her car and threatened with a knife at a shopping centre in West Bromwich. The woman was pulled from her Ford Focus by two attackers who made off in the stolen vehicle, although officers managed to stop it with a stinger in Handsworth and two men have now been charged.
Finally, West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson has welcomed the allocation of nearly two hundred thousand pounds by the Home Office for the Violence Reduction Unit. The money will be used to support charities and social enterprises in their efforts to protect and engage young people and children at risk of serious violence.
