BLOXWICH FARM: Bungalows planned for unused Walsall buildings
Six new chalet bungalows could be built on disused farm land in Bloxwich if plans are given the go-ahead.
Developers have submitted proposals to demolish an unused cottage and former stables buildings at Pear Tree Farm, in Fishley Lane and built the four bedroomed properties in their place.
If approved, the small development would also have 18 car parking spaces created for the properties.
Planning agent Design Construction Management Services Ltd said the land is classed as a brownfield site and added Walsall Council had confirmed it was no longer an agricultural unit back in 2016.
The company added the one-and-a-half storey bungalows would be “visually attractive” and provide a welcome boost to the area.
The land is around one-and-a-half miles from Bloxwich Town Centre and has the empty Pear Tree Cottage on it. There is also other buildings previously used for storage and stables.
In the application, the agent said: “The proposals will function well and add to the overall quality of the area, not just for the short term but over the lifetime of the development.
“They are visually attractive as a result of good architecture, layout and appropriate and effective landscaping and are sympathetic to local character and history, including the surrounding built environment and landscape setting.
“[The plan] establishes a strong sense of place, using the arrangement of building types and materials to create attractive, welcoming and a distinctive place to live.
“It creates a place that is safe, inclusive and accessible and which promote
health and well-being, with a high standard of amenity for existing and future
users; and where crime and disorder, and the fear of crime, do not undermine
the quality of life or community cohesion and resilience.”
The proposal is currently being assessed by Walsall Council planners.
