DEEP TROUBLE: Birmingham City fail to win against Millwall
Birmingham City fans are calling for the sacking of Aitor Karanka as his side made it just one win in 14 games with a 2-0 defeat against Millwall.
The blues traveled to the capital hoping to climb out of the relegation zone but ended the evening a point from safety, having played more games than the teams around them.
Millwall opened the scoring when Jed Wallace pounced on Mikel San Jose's back-pass to poke the ball past Neil Etheridge after three minutes.
Birmingham created very little in front of goal and the result was put beyond any doubt when Ben Thompson finished off Shaun Hutchinson's low cross with 15 minutes remaining.
Despite the result, Karanka spoke positively about his side post-match and praised their work rate throughout the 90 minutes:
"On Saturday I wasn't happy with the performance but today I can't say anything bad because the players were fighting to the last whistle.
"We need to win games. I don't need to look at the table because the table is the reflection of your work on the pitch. I said to the players after the game they have to keep believing. The only way to turn this around is to keep working."
The Spaniard takes his side to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, and with both sides in the relegation zone, it's a must win game for City.
