DEAN’S DISAPPOINTMENT: Leicester beat inconsistent Aston Villa
Aston Villa manager Dean Smith thought his side's first-half showing caused the defeat at home to Leicester City.
Smith bemoaned his team's performance and even sent them out early after the interval.
Leicester scored twice in the first half before Bertrand Traore grabbed one back for the home side.
James Maddison got the Foxes off the mark when he curled an effort past Emi Martinez after around 20 minutes.
That lead was doubled when Harvey Barnes tapped in Martinez's save from Jamie Vardy.
Traore's goal ended up being just a consolation despite the lifeline it seemed to be when he scored.
Villa have missed the opportunity to close the gap on European football and remain four points off sixth place.
The inconsistencies in the team have got Villa fan Dom Phillips debating if they need to make changes.
He wasn't impressed with the three men in the middle and wants Smith to make changes in midfield.
"The midfield three - I've been saying it for weeks now - needs to be changed," Dom said post-game.
"(John) McGinn awful, (Douglas) Luiz awful, (Ross) Barkley even worse.
"I want to see (Marvelous) Nakamba, (Morgan) Sanson and (Jacob) Ramsey as a three."
Aston Villa's Attitude
Dom hasn't been impressed with Barkley's attitude since joining Villa and thinks he needs dropping from the squad.
"Him throwing his shinpads into the stands when getting subbed off - I hope Dean made him go and pick them up himself."
He continued: "That's a stinking attitude which we've seen from Ross all season in my opinion."
Aston Villa travel to Leeds United next as they look to get back on track in their quest for European football.
