LOCAL UPDATE: Plans for an £18 million creative space in Digbeth & Sandwell Council defend 2.99% council tax rise

A planning application has been submitted for Fazeley Street in Digbeth for an eighteen million pound facility that hopes to boost Birmingham's TV and film industry.

The plans would see five derelict buildings converted into a space for independent TV production companies and content creators to use.

A butcher from Walsall has pleaded guilty to selling short weight meat. Matthew Butler, owner of Muddy Pig Butchers on Cross Street in Willenhall has been ordered to pay nearly £1800 in costs and has been given eighteen months community service for deliberately altering his scales when selling meat.

Finally, Sandwell Council have defended their 2.99% council tax rise. Sandwell chiefs say the rise is the smallest in the West Midlands and is way below the government's cap of 4.99%.
