LOCAL UPDATE: Latest coronavirus case update & Man dies in hit-and-run in Tipton
The West Midlands is still dealing with a large amount of coronavirus cases.
There have been another five hundred and ninety two confirmed cases of coronavirus in Birmingham, the Black Country and Staffordshire according to the latest data from Public Health England. It comes as officials are on the hunt for a mystery person suspected of having the Brazil variant.
Next, a man has died in a hit and run incident in Tipton. Darren Whitehouse who is from the area was hit by a car in St Mark's Road at about one forty pm on Saturday. The car used had been stolen in Rowley Regis last Wednesday and was using cloned plates at the time of the crash.
Finally, West Midlands police officers have seized huge amounts of class A drugs and cash from a flat in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. The haul was initially discovered by fire crews who forced entry just before nine am on Sunday after being alerted to some flooding by a neighbour.
