An update on some of the top stories here in the West Midlands:
Birmingham NEC's Nightingale Hospital will be permamently decommissioned in around three weeks. The HSJ reported today that the facility will be "stood down" from providing beds for Covid-19 patients by next month, with some of the facilities set to be used for other purposes. To date, the temporary hospital has never been used.
The World's first 5G tram has been trialled in the West Midlands. The vehicle together with a number of stops have been fitted out with the technology which will be used to provide real time information to those with accessibility needs.
A new law that could see the jailing of travellers who set up illegal sites has been backed by Wolverhampton MP Stuart Anderson. The plans would make it a criminal offence to live in vehicles on land without permission, and to cause "distress" to communities. Offenders would face a fine of £2500 and up to three months in prison.
