GREALISH MISSING: Villa will be without their captain against Newcastle
Aston Villa will be without captain Jack Grealish for a fifth successive game when they kick off the Premier League weekend against Newcastle United on Friday.
Grealish has been absent since Villa’s match against Brighton through a combination of a shin injury and illness.
A boost for Dean Smith’s side is the return of Matty Cash, who is expected to start for the first time in four matches.
As for the home side, Steve Bruce has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the fixture.
The main problem for the Magpies is their lack of goals and they remain without Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron.
Aston Villa won the reverse fixture 2-0 in January and can do the Premier League double over Newcastle for only the second time
Things won’t be easy for Villa, not only are they missing Grealish but Newcastle are unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League home games against them.
Dean Smith’s side need just three more points to guarantee their highest Premier League points total since the 2010-11 season when they finished on 48 points.
Emiliano Martinez is one short of matching Villa's Premier League record for most clean sheets by a goalkeeper in a season, this was set by Brad Friedel.
