LOCAL UPDATE: Concerns for new Covid wave as infection rates rise in parts of the West Midlands
A teenager seriously injured on a motorbike in Birmingham on Tuesday night has now sadly died from his injuries.
The 16-year-old is believed to have been a pillion passenger on a moped in Rocky Lane, Perry Barr, when it’s understood an incident occurred with a car. The car made off from the scene and police have launched an investigation to trace its occupants.
Health chiefs have warned of a third wave of coronavirus as infection levels rise across the West Midlands. Particular areas of concern are Wolverhampton where the rate per 100,000 people went up 24% to 72.1 and Dudley which saw a 50% rise to 79.3.
A burglary gang have been jailed following a 100mph chase through the Black Country. Morgan McTaggart, Callum Hopson, Ashley Greatrex and Jamie Hopson had broke into a newsagents. They were jailed this week with sentencing raging from 15 months to two and a half years.
