Coronavirus case rates rise in Birmingham & Hundreds attend an organised party at Canon Hill Park
Data from Public Health England shows that coronavirus case rates are rising in Birmingham. Tuesday's update show it has gone up to 73.8 cases per a hundred thousand people in the second city. The biggest rise in case rates in the West Midlands was in North Warwickshire.
Meanwhile, an organised gathering of hundreds of people took place in Canon Hill Park on Tuesday. It had been advertised as 'Birmingham's hottest student link-up' by organisers 21 Degrees and it co-incided with the hottest day of the year so far. The new Covid restrictions say you can only meet with five other people outdoors.
Finally, Unite the Union have launched a whistle-blowing hotline for Amazon workers in the West Midlands. The global company have workers in places such as Walsall and Coventry. It is part of an 'Action on Amazon' campaign.
