LOCAL UPDATE: Two arrested after Bilston baby death & Covid-19 infection rates fall locally
Police continue to investigate the circumstances after a baby was found dead in a Bilston supermarket on Sunday evening.
Officers say a post mortem examination will be carried out on the baby boy, who was not thought to be at full-term. A 21-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the baby’s death and are currently in custody. The baby mother is said to be receiving appropriate care.
Latest figures from Public health England reveal that several local areas have fallen out of the top 50 areas for infection. These include Birmingham,Sandwell, Wolverhampton, Tamworth and Dudley. Despite the drop in infection rates health leaders have urged to public to continue to be careful and maintain social distancing.
