Record numbers wait for treatment in Black Country and Staffordshire hospitals & Dalian Atkinson murder trial set to take place in May.
NHS statistics show that more people have had to wait over a year for treatment at Black Country and Staffordshire hospitals than ever before. The thousands of people waiting at a number of different hospital trusts total a number not seen since records began in 2012.
Next, a trial in which a police officer will stand accused of murdering former Aston Villa footballer Dalian Atkinson in Telford back in twenty sixteen is expected to start in May. Tuesday saw a pre-trial hearing at Birmingham Crown Court and a jury will now be selected.
Finally, the Office for National Statistics shows that unemployment in the West Midlands has fallen. The unemployment rate went from 5% to 4.9% across the previous three months. There was also a 16% increase in job vacancies in March.
