Hundreds of 999 callers in the West Midlands have been made to wait in queues due to a lack of available ambulances.
The Express and Star newspaper has quoted an unnamed source who claims that at worst 411 callers were left waiting in a queue. West Midlands Ambulance Service say demand has been fifty percent higher than usual and their staff and volunteers are working tirelessly across the West Midlands to reach patients as quickly as possible.
A man who died in a collision on Saturday afternoon has been named. Gary Simpson, aged 38, was travelling on his motorbike on Stourbridge Road at around 3pm when he collided with a Land Rover Discovery. The driver of the car, is assisting police their enquires, as are a number of witnesses.
