COVID VACCINE: More than 44% of Worcester have had both jabs

MORE than 44 per cent of people in the city have received both Covid jabs after almost 3,500 more people received their second vaccine in the last week.

Latest NHS figures, which run up to May 30, showed 39,476 people in Worcester have now received two doses of a Covid vaccine.

The data showed a further 3,319 people in the city received their second jab in the last week – up from 36,157.

A total of 3,883 people in their 40s in Worcester have received both Covid jabs with 6,110 people in their 50s now having had both doses.

That figure rises to 8,177 people in their 60s while 7,849 people in their 70s in the city have received two doses of a Covid vaccine.

And the figures showed 4,512 people in their 80s in the city have received both doses of a Covid vaccine with 5,626 people aged 40 and under.

For the first time, figures now show 2,770 people aged under 30 have now received two jabs with 3,276 people aged between 30 and 39 in Worcester receiving both doses.

Based on Office for National Statistics population estimates, more than 44 per cent of Worcester’s 89,500 people aged 16 and above have received their second vaccination.

Figures also show 60,051 people in Worcester have received one dose of a Covid vaccine, including 4,178 people under 30, 7,721 people in their 30s and 11,384 people in their 40s.

As many as 12,176 people in their 50s in Worcester have received one jab and 9,596 people in their 60s have received one dose of a Covid vaccine so far compared to 8,121 people in their 70s.

Figures show a total of 4,653 people aged 80 and above have received one jab.

A total of 94.9 per cent of care home residents in Worcestershire have now been vaccinated with both doses, according to NHS figures, with 97.3 per cent of residents receiving just the first Covid jab. The same figures show 71.6 per cent of staff in Worcestershire’s care homes have received both jabs with 86.4 per cent of staff receiving just the first dose.
