‘FATALLY INJURED: Appeal to find car following Birmingham moped tragedy where boy was killed
West Midlands Police
West Midlands Police are appealing for help to find where this car is after a boy was killed when the moped he was on was chased and caused to crash in Birmingham.
Liam Mooney, aged 16, was a pillion passenger on the bike in Rocky Lane, Perry Barr, Birmingham, at 7.20pm on 22 March when it’s understood it was pursued by a silver Volvo S60.
The moped crashed and the car made off leaving Liam fatally injured in the road; he was pronounced dead in hospital the following day.
West Midlands Police want to locate the Volvo S60 SE registration number AY63 PRV which, following extensive enquiries and checks with the registered owner, we believe has also been used in the Greater London and Essex areas.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Mobberley, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts remain with Liam's family as we continue to establish exactly what happened to their son.
"This remains an active investigation and we want to hear from anyone who knows where this car is now or has seen it since the fatal collision.”
You can talk to West Midlands police via live chat at 8am to midnight or call 101 anytime. To remain 100% anonymous please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Tell them what you know, not who you are. Please quote log number 3771 of 22/03/21.
- Two men, Paul Biggs, of Hutton Drive, Brentwood and Dale Sharpen, of Vicarage Road, Woodford Green, Essex have been charged with murder. They have also been charged with wounding after another teenager on the moped was also injured in the collision.
