VACCINE CONFIDENCE: Are you feeling COVID confident this Bank Holiday?
How are you feeling about the vaccination rollout?
New figures from PHE suggest 13,000 deaths have been prevented due to the power of the vaccination rollout, whilst 40,000 hospital admission have also been avoided.
And there are some new vaccines on the horizon. A single-dose COVID-19 vaccine made by Janssen has been approved for use in the UK by the medicines regulator. The UK has ordered twenty million doses which are expected to arrive later this year.
The Novavax vaccine is still in the trial phase and is hoping to be approved, although there have been some hiccups as volunteers have threatened to quit the trial after discovering the NHS app does not deem getting the Novavax jab as coronavirus passport worthy, leaving them unable to travel abroad to various locations.
But there are still some concerns about the connection between the vaccine and rare fatal blood clots following the tragic death of BBC Radio Newcastle presenter Lisa Shaw who died aged 44. There will be a further investigation into her death to determine if the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine played any part in it.
Will you be putting your faith in your vaccine this weeked and getting out and making the most of the glorious weather, and what are your Bank Holiday plans?
