LOCAL UPDATE: Schedule for Birmingham 2022 revealed & £30 million worth of bus priority measures for West Mids
The latest version of the competition schedule for the Birmingham twenty twenty two Commonwealth Games has been revealed.
There will be two hundred and eighty six sessions of the games across nineteen different sports starting on the twenty ninth of July next year. Nigel Huddleston, Minister for Sport, Tourism and Heritage said: "There will be a series of stand-out sessions in this exciting sports programme, not least the fantastic showcase of women's team sport with hockey, netball and T20 cricket gold medals all being won on the same day.The Birmingham Commonwealth Games will provide some of the most memorable moments in what is set to be an incredible year of celebration for the UK in 2022."
The M6 Toll has released plans for a multi-million pound transformation of its existing tolling system. The two year programme will transform the existing tolling system infrastructure and will include implementing Automatic Number Plate Recognition.
Finally, work has started on a £30 million package of bus priority measures between Birmingham, Sandwell and Dudley. Transport for West Midlands plans will see new bus lanes, priority junctions and bus gates as well as new state-of-the-art bus stops offering real time information all to improve reliability and journey times on commuter routes.
