Man jailed for 6 years following a machete attack on a street in Birmingham in January.
A man has been jailed for more than six years after attacking another man with two machetes in a Birmingham street, West Midlands Police have said.
Jordan O’Connor, aged 28, had arranged to meet his victim in Chester Road, Pype Hayes, on 25 January this year, to sort out their differences.
But instead O’Connor - who was armed with two machetes - stabbed at the man, wounding him in the back.
O’Connor also smashed the window of a car and threatened another man who was with his victim before fleeing the scene at around 7.40pm.
The 27-year-old was treated in hospital for his wounds and following surgery he was discharged two days later to continue his recovery at home.
Officers from the force were called to the scene and carried out an initial search, and seized two machetes which O’Connor had dumped in a nearby park.
Witnesses were also interviewed, clothing seized and analysed and CCTV footage reviewed and the following day officers arrested O’Connor.
Despite giving a ’no comment’ interview while in police custody, due to the weight of evidence gathered by investigators O’Connor was charged over the attack.
Appearing at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday 24 May, O’Connor of Dolman Road, Aston, admitted wounding, criminal damage, possession of two bladed weapons and affray.
He was sentenced to six years and nine months and also made the subject of an extended three-year licence period.
