MISS MACAROON: Ten years of creating jobs for local young people
Birmingham based social enterprise Miss Macaroon has just celebrated it’s tenth anniversary, in that time they have produced 2.5 million macaroons for businesses, celebrities and even royalty.
Founded by pasty s her Rosie Ginday the enterprise has grown from a desire to assist local young people back into work via one of the West Midlands leading employability programmes and to create a destination for venue for visitors to Birmingham and local people.
A recent £150,000 from the John Lewis Partnership community investment fund will be use to fund the salaries of the new MacsMAD (Macaroons that make a difference) graduates together with supporting a further 20 graduates as they continue to overcome barriers such as learning disabilities and anxiety.
The programme is run over ten weeks, five of which are spent training and five weeks of on the job experience. individuals are able to choose between retail or catering.
