OMICRON VARIANT: Has the arrival of the new strain affected your Christmas plans?
The UK can expect several more weeks were Covid cases hit a record high, England’s chief medical officer has warned.
It comes after millions of people have cancelled some of their festive plans so they can see family on Christmas Day. After weeks of refusing to admit Christmas plans could be under threat, the Prime Minister told the country to cut back on Christmas partying and to “think carefully” before going out during the festive season. The Independent SAGE group of scientists and medics has called for an immediate 10-day “circuit-breaker” lockdown, with bans on households mixing and the closure of hospitality firms.
Are you entering “self-imposed” lockdown? Are you limiting your interactions with others to make sure your Christmas Day plans can go ahead? What plans have you changed? Are you tasking regular tests? Have you been able to get a test? Do you think the Government has scared people into cancelling some of their festive plans? Do you think the country is panicking unnecessarily?
