Latest data from Birmingham City Council has revealed that Mere Green has seen the greatest spike recording 105 cases in the week until July 11.
One in every 100 people in that ward has the virus. Walmley, Mere Green, Reddicap Heath and Wylde Green are also seeing high rates. Dr Justin Varney, Birmingham's chief medical officer says the rates are caused by school children, some giving it to their parents and younger adults who are unvaccinated.
A violent burglar who broke a man's jaw as he raided a home in Birmingham has been jailed for more than six years after police linked him to the crime through a face covering he dropped at the scene. Christopher Miller attacked his victim on the driveway as the man in his 50s arrived home on 29 November last year.
