WOLVERHAMPTON SHOOTING: Teen girl blasted in chest during daylight attack
An 18-year-old girl is in a critical but stable condition after being shot in the chest with a sawn-off shotgun during an attack in broad daylight.
Armed police and paramedics rushed to Hughes Avenue in Wolverhampton at around 4.15pm on Saturday afternoon after the teenager was seriously injured.
The victim was reportedly sitting in a car in a white dress when the incident occurred. Forensics officers found a double-barrelled sawn-off shotgun and cartridges in a rucksack hidden in a nearby bush. An air ambulance also landed nearby.
Police say the girl remains critically injured in hospital.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We’re investigating after a woman was found with gunshot injuries in Hughes Avenue, Wolverhampton, just after 4.15pm (on April 3).
"The 18-year-old was taken to hospital with chest injuries and remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital. A gun was recovered nearby and we’re carrying out further enquiries to establish whether it’s connected.
