MUST WIN: Villa target Europe ahead of Sheffield United clash
Aston Villa travel to bottom of the table Sheffield United on Wednesday as they look to make it back-to-back wins and maintain their European hopes.
Dean Smith’s side put in a spirited performance to thwart Leeds United at the weekend despite missing key man Jack Grealish.
Anwar El Ghazi’s goal separated the two sides and he’ll be hoping to be given the nod again on Wednesday.
Although Grealish will miss the game, goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has recovered from the groin strain that hampered him during Saturday's match.
The home side have no fresh injury concerns but remain without several key players.
Chris Basham faces another few weeks out with a hamstring injury, while John Egan, Jayden Bogle, Jack O'Connell, Sander Berge and Jack Robinson are also sidelined.
A win for Villa would see them do the league double over the Blades for the first time since the 1993-94 season.
Villa have been good on the road of late and are three away games unbeaten in the league, keeping clean sheets in all three.
Dean Smith has turned his team in to contenders for European football after a difficult first season back in the top division.
A win on Wednesday would put pressure on the teams around them, and have Villa fans dreaming of midweek trips in Europe next season.
