POTENTIAL DEBUT: Could Mendez-Laing feature for Boro?
Neil Warnock has hinted new signing Nathaniel Mendez-Laing could make his Middlesbrough debut against Derby County.
Mendez-Laing played under Warnock at Cardiff City and they were reunited in January.
The Boro boss wanted to add creativity to his side and brought in a former player to help out.
Yannick Bolasie and Neeskens Kebano also joined Boro before the deadline closed.
Warnock says that although Mendez-Laing is behind those two in terms of fitness, he may feature.
“He’s had a good week this week in training," Warnock said.
“It'll be interesting to see how far he has come and whether I can give him half an hour or so.”
Derby are currently in relegation trouble and manager Wayne Rooney will be hoping to steer the club clear of danger.
Boro aren't in great form themselves having won just one of their last five.
It leaves their promotion push in danger of fizzling out right before the business end of the season.
However, the fact they are away from home gives Boro fan Charlie Hopper some hope.
"Our home form has been absolutely woeful," he says.
"I think Luton [Town] was maybe the last time we picked up three points at home.
"Our away form has been a little bit better. When we're on the road we seem to be able to pick up results here and there."
Derby County v Middlesbrough kicks off at 15:00GMT (3pm) on Saturday 13th February.
