LIVE FROM THE VALLEY: Full line up revealed for huge outdoor show in Sandwell

LIVE FROM THE VALLEY: Full line up revealed for huge outdoor show in Sandwell

Live From The Valley

Live From The Valley has revealed its full line up as UB40 return to the West Midlands for a huge outdoor show and celebration of live music at Sandwell Valley Country Park on 1st August.

Britain’s most successful reggae band will head up a list of quality music acts guaranteed to bring the vibes and finally get people dancing again. Already announced as support is chart-topper and West End star, Beverly Knight.

Now added to the stunning line up are a host of acts including 2-Tone legends, The Beat GB, Birmingham’s unique genre-blending singer, Namywa, BBC Introducing ‘act to watch’, Mica Millar and many more.

Alongside fairground rides, a delicious range of local, independent street food traders and more, the festival feel of this event is completed with two further stages featuring a host of quality DJs, live bands and live PAs.

Live From The Valley will not only support many much-loved and up-and-coming local acts but will be a chance for Birmingham to celebrate some of its most famous sons as UB40 take to the stage; a 4-time Grammy nominated band who have sold over 70 million albums, scored 2 US Billboard no.1 singles, and over 50 UK chart singles including 3 no.1 hits! Beverley Knight is another West Mids success story, with a 25 year career culminating in an MBE, 7 top 20 albums (including 4 top 10s), and starring West End roles in The Bodyguard, Cats and more.

Newly announced on the line up, The Beat GB features original members of the classic 2 Tone pioneers, The Beat. Everett Morton was a member of the original band which scored a string of seminal hits including ‘Mirror In The Bathroom’, ‘Tears Of A Clown’ and ‘Too Nice To Talk To’. They are sure to deliver to an up-for-it crowd at Sandwell Valley.

Namywa will step onto the main stage to show why she is being tipped for big things. The Birmingham singer / songwriter has been featured on ITV and BBC over lockdown, performing and talking about the importance of live music. She will have the chance to give her best to fans who have missed it for so long on 1st August.

Mica Millar is another rare talent. She performs at Live From The Valley after collaborating with Goldie and performing with Hacienda Classical. Described as ‘one of the best vocalists in the UK’ by BBC Introducing, she will be treating live music fans to tracks from her forthcoming debut album.

Two new stages have been announced. The first is curated by the Birmingham venue where UB40 played their first ever gig. The Hare & Hounds stage is headed up by Dennis Bovell, the Wandsworth reggae Lovers Rock pioneer who has just been awarded an MBE and was recently immortalised in the BBC drama Small Axe! Also performing will be local rapper Lady Sanity, and old school hip hop master, DJ Format.

Sunshine reggae grooves come courtesy of Friendly Fire Band, reworked, unmissable covers from the Heavy Beat Brass Band, while Birmingham rising reggae stars, Young Culture Band also step up.

Nightowl DJs get behind the decks to get people up and dancing. Over on the Hot Fuzz Stage is an unmissable live PA from pioneers of the ragga and jungle scenes, the Ragga Twins. Lining up on the decks are Aries, Gold Dubs, and the Midland’s legends, Flashback’s Mistress Mo with Boogieman.

After yet more delays for the live music scene, Live From The Valley will be one of the first big events to take place and is a chance for all the family to enjoy summer festival vibes, friendly crowds, and a host of incredible music talent.
